Online other people might perceive you differently than you expect. This is why when writing publicly, (Facebook, Twitter, Linkin, etc.) be sure that you are representing yourself professionally. Here are tips on how to craft a strong digital identity.

Approximately 45% of employers will search your social media as means of determining whether your professional documents match the digital footprint you leave online.
Check your Twitter and Facebook. Are your posts and pictures professional or embarrassing? How easy is it for someone to look at your accounts? Are you happy with the image of yourself that exists online?
The approach to public writing and the creation of social identities is no different from traditional approaches to writing: be aware of the audience and purpose (i.e., why am I writing this?). When an individual creates a digital footprint (or regularly updates it) be fully aware of these same things.
Be conscious that information posted is generally made available to the public, and “private” information can be accessed if an employer wants it.
